Post-Care Instructions for Lip Blush Procedure

Post-Care Instructions for
Lip Blush Procedure

Congratulations on your beautiful new lips! To ensure your lip blush heals properly and retains its vibrant color, please follow these aftercare instructions carefully.

The First 24-48 Hours:

  • If you have ever had a cold sore, please obtain a prescription for treatment (Permanent makeup on the lip area can possibly trigger a localized break out of the herpes virus if you had previous breakouts, so the prescription is required before you come for procedure) Start taking the prescription after the first meal after procedure.
  • Do not touch your lips with unwashed hands to avoid introducing bacteria.
  • Avoid direct moisture on the lips for the first 24 hours. This means no eating or drinking directly on the lips for a few hours post-procedure.
  • Do not kiss or engage in any activities that could cause friction or pressure on your lips.
  • Avoid sweating and refrain from exercise or hot environments like saunas or hot tubs during the first 48 hours.

Apply a thin layer of the provided ointment to the lips as directed by your artist, but don’t overapply.

Days 2-7:

  • Gently clean your lips with a damp cotton pad or cloth, and apply a thin layer of ointment as directed. Make sure to clean your lips gently to avoid disturbing the healing skin.
  • Avoid direct sunlight or tanning beds for at least 10-14 days. Sun exposure can cause the pigment to fade prematurely.
  • Do not pick, peel, or scratch your lips, as this can disturb the healing process and cause scarring. Let any flaking or scabbing fall off naturally.
  • Avoid using makeup on your lips during the first week. This includes lip balms, lipsticks, and any other cosmetic products.
  • Stay hydrated to help the healing process, but avoid applying any creams or lotions to the lips except for the aftercare ointment provided.
  • Avoid exposing your lips to excessive heat or cold (e.g., saunas, direct hot air, or cold winds).

Weeks 2-4:

  • Continue to apply the ointment as recommended by your artist until the lips are completely healed.
  • Do not exfoliate or use strong skincare products near your lips for at least 3 weeks.
  • Avoid facials, chemical peels, or other skin treatments near the lip area until fully healed.
  • Avoid hot, spicy, or acidic foods that might irritate or cause discomfort during the healing process.

When to Contact Your Artist:

If you notice any unusual swelling, prolonged redness, pus, or signs of infection, please reach out to your artist immediately. Mild swelling, redness, and tenderness are normal, but if they persist or worsen, please consult your healthcare provider.

Remember

Healing can take 7-10 days for the initial phase, with full pigment settling in after 4-6 weeks. Following these post-care instructions will ensure your lip blush heals properly and retains its beautiful color.
