Post-Care for Eyeliner

Post-Care Instructions for Permanent Eyeliner Procedure

Congratulations on your new eyeliner! To ensure the best healing and longest-lasting results, please follow these aftercare instructions carefully.

The First 24-48 Hours:

  • Do not touch the eyeliner area with dirty hands. Wash your hands thoroughly before applying any aftercare ointment.
  • Apply cold compresses to the eyes 2-3 times a day, if area is swollen or sensitive.
  • Avoid makeup on your eyelids and around the eyes for at least 7 days after the procedure. This includes eyeshadows, mascaras, and eyeliners.
  • Avoid excessive sweating and refraining from exercise, saunas, or hot tubs during the first 48 hours.
  • Apply the ointment provided by your artist as directed, but avoid over-applying. Use a very thin layer.

Days 2-7:

  • Gently clean the area with a damp cotton pad or cloth using mild, non-fragranced soap and water. Do this gently to avoid disrupting the healing skin.
  • Continue to apply the ointment as recommended, especially during the night or when the area feels dry.
  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds. Sunburned eyelids or sun exposure can cause the pigment to fade prematurely.
  • Do not rub, pick, or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or flaking naturally fall off.
  • Avoid using makeup on your eyelids during the healing process. This includes eyeliners, eyeshadows, and mascara.
  • Do not use eyelash extensions or any kind of lash lifting treatments for at least 4 weeks post-procedure.

When to Contact Your Artist:

If you notice any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or pus, please contact your artist immediately. Mild swelling, redness, and tenderness are normal and should subside after the first 48 hours.

Remember

Your permanent eyeliner may appear darker in the first few days, but this is temporary. The pigment will soften as it heals. Full healing can take up to 6 weeks, but following these aftercare instructions will help ensure the best results. Touch up appointment can be scheduled to perfect or darken the liner after 6 weeks of healing.
